I can't hear any voice instructions
If the voice instructions are too quiet or non-audible during navigation, you can follow these steps to fix the issue.
Activate Voice Navigation
Make sure that voice navigation is active.
- During navigation, swipe up the bike computer from the bottom of the screen and activate Voice Navigation there.
- On Android, you can also activate voice instructions in the settings of the app - go to Profile and tap the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Press the "louder" button
Press the "louder" button on your smartphone right after you start the navigation or at the exact moment you expect a new voice instruction to easily increase the volume of the instructions.
This is the most likely option (after activation) to fix the issue. It might take a few tries to get the timing right.
Check your phone's sound settings
Please make sure that the volume of your notification sounds is set high enough in the general settings of your smartphone.
"Headphone Safety" settings (iOS only)
On newer versions of iOS, there is a feature called "Headphone Safety". You can find this by going to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Headphone Safety. Once there, check the "Reduce Loud Sounds" slider is switched to off.
Download the correct voice data (Android only)
You start navigating and a pop up appears stating "Please download the voice data for your language to receive voice instructions."? In this case, click on "Open Settings" and download the fitting voice data to solve this issue.
Missing text-to-speech app (Android only)
While most smartphones have it preinstalled, some devices (i.e. Huawei or Samsung) are lacking Google's Speech Services - an app that is required by Bikemap to generate voice instructions. If this is the case, a pop up should appear stating:
"Please install an app to handle voice instructions on your device first.".
Use the link provided above or search for "Speech Services" in the Play Store to install the app.
If the Speech Services by Google are already installed you might want to check whether they are set as preferred engine in your device settings.
