Surface and Way Type Information
In this article, you will find out how we display the surface and way type information of routes.
We get all our surface and map information from OpenStreetMaps (OSM). OSM is open source project that creates and distributes free geographic data for the world. Any data errors in Bikemap will be due to missing or erroneous data in OSM. As OSM is open source, we encourage all our users to get involved in updating the map in their area. You can find more about how to get involved here.
Where to find this information?
In the app
After you have selected a route in the app and scrolled down you will find both under "Route Quality".
On the website
If you select a route on the website, you will find information about it in the info box on the left-hand side once you scroll down.
Legend
We use different colors for each different category. There are also slight differences for the colors depending on whether your device is in light or dark mode.
