Manage the privacy of your routes

This article will explain how to adjust the privacy of your routes.

If you do not want other users to see one of your routes, you should make sure the route is set to private. If you want to share your route with your friends or the whole Bikemap community, you should set your route to public. 

You can also set it so the route is public but the start and end point is hidden.

Managing route privacy on the website

Public or Private

1. Log in to your account at www.bikemap.net and select the route you want to set to private.
2. Scroll down in the information box on the left hand side until you see the privacy section.
3. Press 'Edit' and choose between public or private. 
4. Press 'Save' to finalise the change. 

Hide Start and End Segments

1. Log in to your account at www.bikemap.net and select the route you want to manage.
2. Scroll down in the information box on the left hand side until you see the privacy section.
3. Press 'Edit' and choose whichever toggles you want.
4. Press 'Save' to finalise the change.

 Managing route privacy in the Android app

Public or Private

1. Log in and go to your routes.
2. Select the route you want to manage the privacy of.
3. Tap on the 3 dots in the upper right and select 'Edit Route' and select 'Edit Details'.
4. Scroll down and tap on the slider under 'Sharing & Privacy'.
5. Tap 'Save Route'.

Hide Start and End Segments

1. Log in and go to your routes.
2. Select the route you want to manage the privacy of.
3. Tap on the 3 dots in the upper right and select 'Edit Details'.
4. Select the toggles you want under 'Sharing & Privacy'
5. Tap 'Save'.

Public or Private

1. Log in and go to your routes.
2. Select the route you want to manage the privacy of.
3. Scroll down and click on 'Edit Route' and select 'Edit Details'
4. Scroll down and tap on the slider under 'Privacy'. 
5. Tap 'Save'.

Hide Start and End Segments

1. Log in and go to your routes.
2. Select the route you want to manage the privacy of.
3. Scroll down and click on 'Edit Route' and select 'Edit Details'
4. Select the toggles you want under 'Privacy'
5. Tap 'Save'

Making Routes Private by Default

You can also make created routes private by default in your App settings. To do this: 

• Go to the profile tab.
• Press the settings cog wheel in the top right.
• Scroll down to 'Route Visibility'.
• Choose your preference.
