Using Bikemap with my Apple Watch
Bikemap is compatible with the Apple Watch. Learn how to connect your iPhone with your Apple Watch and how to use Bikemap on your Apple Watch in this article.
Pairing your Apple Watch with your iPhone
To use Bikemap on your Apple Watch, you need to pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone. Please note that WatchOS 4.2 is a minimum requirement for this. Proceed as follows:
- Put your Apple Watch on your wrist and press and hold the side buttons to turn it on. Bring your iPhone near your watch and follow the onscreen instructions to pair it.
- Download the Bikemap app from the App Store on your Apple Watch.
- Open Bikemap on your Apple Watch and log in.
Using your Apple Watch, you can now instantly track your ride. Please note that you cannot receive turn-by-turn navigation instructions for a route. The Apple Watch can only track your route.
Recording a route with the Apple Watch
To record your ride, tap on the big blue start button. Your Apple Watch will start tracking your route for you. During your ride, your Apple Watch acts as a bike computer and informs you about the duration of your ride, your speed, your heart rate and the distance you have ridden. By swiping to the left, you can pause your ride or tap on the flag button to finish your route.
Now, tap on "Save" on your Apple Watch. Your route will be saved on your watch. Once you open Bikemap on your phone, your route will automatically be synchronised. In the app, you can now enter a route title, add tags and save your route to your recorded routes.
Tip: Using Bikemap on your Apple Watch allows you to record your ride even when you don't have your iPhone with you. However, to upload your route to your Bikemap profile, it is necessary to connect your Apple Watch and your iPhone.
