Using Bikemap with other navigation devices
You can upload and download routes from Bikemap as GPX and KML files. If your device uses other file formats, you can convert them to GPX or KML files and then upload your routes to Bikemap. Uploading and downloading routes for combined use with other navigation devices is only possible on bikemap.net.
Transferring routes from my navigation device to Bikemap
First transfer the route files from your GPS device to your computer. If you need help here, please refer to the manual of your GPS device. Continue on bikemap.net. Click on the "New route" button in the top bar and then select "Upload GPX/KML file".
In the dialog box that opens you can either drag and drop the file into the field or click on "Upload and Import File" to search your computer for the appropriate file. Press the "Upload and Import File" button to start the upload process.
The uploaded route will open in the route editor, where you can make adjustments by moving the track points, adding a title, description, bike type, points of interest (POIs) and/or pictures to the route. You also have the option to set your route to private. The route is then only visible to you and will not be shared with other users on Bikemap.
The route will be saved in your profile after pressing the button "Save route".
Transferring routes from Bikemap to a Garmin navigation device via USB
Go to the detailed view of a route and press the "GPX" or "KML" button respectively to start the download to your computer. The downloaded file is usually located in the download folder of your computer.
Now connect your navigation device to your computer with the USB cable (some devices have to be switched on or switched to mass storage mode for recognition).
The device will then appear as a separate drive in your Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
Now select your previously downloaded file and copy it into the corresponding folder of your Garmin. Depending on your Garmin device, either the Garmin/GPX or Garmin/NewFiles folder is used for this purpose.
After successful transfer, the route is now available for use on your navigation device.
